Another pretty good day! I was really hungry this afternoon. I don’t know why, I had a good breakfast, yogurt for a snack, frozen manicotti for lunch, and some Mississippi Mud Pie (it was legal) on my afternoon break, but I thought I would die of starvation on the way home. I was famished before dinner so I had a little bit of zucchini bread while cooking dinner. I had to eat a little less for supper to stay in range for the day, but I made it. I had hobo chicken and some steamed carrots for dinner, and I passed on the baked potato. And I didn’t mind to give up the potatoes!
I had a good day.

Today is my first day on Weight Watchers. I get to have 28 points a day. I’m psyched. I can eat a whole 6 inch sub from Subway for about 7 points! I’ve been hooked on Subway for the last week. Ever since I went on South Beach, I ended up with a massive craving for fresh, hot bread. It’s crazy what the mind does when you’re on a diet.
I’m not going to go to the meetings. They are either at work, or in the evenings, when I’m usually running around like crazy. But uh… yeah, I guess when else would they have them, 6AM? I think I can do fine without it. I read somewhere that WW was one of the most successful diets out there. I’ve been reading a lot online, and I bought a Weight Watchers magazine online. I will be able to calculate the points pretty easy, thanks to the internet! I can have 28 points a day. Wahoo! That’s 4 subs a day, lol.
I’m going to eat filling, tasty things, like egg mcmuffins, yogurt, frozen dinners, and wraps. And, if I leave enough room. some WW key lime pie! I bought a lot of groceries, and I’m ready for this.

I’ve decided on Weight Watchers! I don’t know why I didn’t try this sooner. After my unsuccessful attempt on South Beach, I could think of nothing but flour and sugar! And I contemplated this regularly for the last few days over Subway subs and chocolate chip cookies. (Look on the bright side - I had light lemonade!) I know what my problem is - being told ‘no’! I want and need freedom with food choices. Isn’t cutting back so much smarter?

I have decided that South Beach is not for me. I’ve gone off track three days in a row. I miss my carbs, I just want something that tastes a little sweet, and that will make me happy. I’m not hungry, so I don’t know why I’m doing this. But it’s time for a change.
I am not going to diet, per se, for a couple of days while I pick another plan. I will be careful and I promise to not gain any weight while I’m choosing!

I was pretty annoyed when I went to bed last night, because I worked so hard and then ate potatoes.
I did the same thing today. What is wrong with me? Hard work all day, and then I blew it at night. Tonight was a little bit worse. I had a ‘pudding pack’ and I just went nuts and had a couple of handfuls of chocolate chips. I can’t even stay on track for a single day.
I think what I need is to exercise, and focus on water. If I get in more water, I’ll probably feel better, and who wants to eat junk after exercising?

I made South Beach veggie cups for breakfast, which were like little spinach soufflés. I served them with a heavy French accent! Joe thought I was funny, but the kids weren’t impressed. At least they all liked their breakfast. I thought it was a good start, until I went to work and my boss, Fran, had brought in a box of donuts and O.J. for breakfast. I resisted, but the sweet smell of Krispy Kreme wafted through the salon for an hour or more. I’m not sure which I wanted more - the donut or the orange juice. I guess knowing you can’t have something makes you want it more.

I made it. Well 95 % made it! I’m really annoyed. I think I need sugar. I’m tired, hungry, but I feel victorious. I had a big salad for lunch, but it wasn’t the same without my honey mustard dressing. I had some almonds and a cheese stick for a snack, and for dinner I had some roasted veggies and some grilled chicken. I made roasted potatoes for the rest of the family. Oh my, they smelled so good and I broke down and ate a handful while I was cleaning up the kitchen. That’s the 5%

I stopped off at Target and they didn’t have the South Beach Diet book! They did have the cookbook though, and it has the plan in it too, so yayy, it was a twofer! I was surprised at how, um, advanced the cookbook is. There are quite a few seafood recipes! I’m not really much for cooking seafood. It makes the house smell, and, well, it’s just better with a beer and a side of chips! Maybe I can save the seafood for Red Lobster. I bet they have something there I can eat. And it’s a good way to get Joe to take me out to dinner.

Well I’ve been all over the internet tonight trying to decide what to do for my new diet. I can’t believe how many there are! I googled ‘diet’ and got 8.25 trillion results.
So far I’m whittled down to South Beach or Weight Watchers. I have a WW place in town, but it is on the other side of town, and it looks like the meetings will be at just the wrong time. I’m a proud soccer mom! Ok, it isn’t soccer, but I do have children that have a few things going on, so my night job is a chauffeur. I’m not sure I can commit to meetings, so I’m leaning heavily towards South Beach.
Oh my, no fruit for the first two weeks? I’m craving it already! I don’t think this will be too hard. If I can stick it out for 2 weeks, I’ll be much better off. Fortunately, my kids are vegetable eaters, but they are kinda picky. I guess all kids are though, right? I’m not sure how they will go for whole wheat and brown rice. It’s safe to say this will be an adventure!
I’ve been reading all about it on South Beach Online, and I think I will stop at Target on the way home tomorrow and get the book. I’m ready!

Hello, I’m Ginger, and I am a foodaholic!
Actually, that isn’t far from the truth. I love good food, and even ‘ok food’. I love expensive truffles, but I can also dig a Milky Way bar. I love pasta, good steaks, and cheesecake. I love those hot rolls you get in steakhouses. I like salads, but they’re even better with oily croûtons and blue cheese dressing. I really like to cook, but I can’t control myself in the kitchen. It’s just so good, it’s hard to stop!
But now I am paying the price. I’m 38 years old, and I’m determined to not be 40 and Fat. I’m beginning to panic!
Welcome to my diary. I’m going to spend my time on the keyboard instead of munching. I can save a lot of calories that way, and also I can map out my awesome weight loss, which I am sure I will achieve!! I will use this to keep myself on track, and who knows, maybe inspire somebody out there to lose weight also!
I’ll post on a regular basis, and let you know everything I learn along the way!
